The Chain is built privacy-first. It works entirely on your device and does not require an account.

The short version

• No account, no sign-up, no servers. We don't have a backend that stores your information.
• Your habit data stays on your device. Habits, streaks, journal notes, your name and profile photo are saved only in the app's local storage on your phone.
• We don't collect, sell, or share your personal data. There is no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking in the app.

Information stored on your device

The following is created by you and stored locally on your device only. We cannot see it:

• Habits and their settings, completion history, streaks, and journal notes.
• Your profile name and (optional) profile photo. The photo is selected from your device and stored locally; it is never uploaded.
• App preferences (theme/time format, reminder settings).

You can export this data as a backup file or delete it at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes this data from your device.

Permissions we may request

• Notifications — only if you enable reminders. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; no notification content is sent to us.
• Photos / media — only if you choose to set a profile photo. We access the single image you pick; nothing is uploaded.

Purchases

The Chain offers an optional one-time "Chain Pro" purchase. Purchases are processed by Google Play and managed through RevenueCat, our purchase infrastructure provider. To verify your purchase, a non-identifying purchase token and an anonymous app-generated identifier may be processed by Google and RevenueCat. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details.

Children

The Chain is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data sharing

We do not sell or share your personal information. The only third parties involved are Google Play and RevenueCat, solely to process the optional purchase described above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the new version at the same URL.
